Diabetic workshop explores the link between depression and diabetes

The team from Mopani and Pfizer who hosted the workshop; Verity Izeboud (director Mopani Pharmacy), Fransie Viljoen (Pfizer representative), Dr Gert Bosch (psychiatrist and presenter), Catherine Dietrichen (Pfizer representative), Rosey Brooks (Pfizer representative), Sharon Snyman (Pfizer representative) and Vincent Morse (events coordinator Mopani Pharmacy).

Mopani Pharmacy in conjunction with Pfizer hosted a diabetic workshop on 26 October at Orange Restaurant, Nelspruit.

Some 50 people – all local and living with diabetes – attended the event which was presented by Dr Gert Bosch, a Pretoria based psychiatrist. Dr Bosch discussed the link between diabetes and depression and how to manage the condition. His presentation was well received after which the attendees were treated to a diabetic friendly lunch.

Mopani’s monthly diabetic workshops have become a set event among the local diabetic community and the pharmacy invites all diabetics to join these workshops which are hosted free of charge to the attendees. Each month a different topic is explored in-depth covering all aspects of living with diabetes like foot care, eye care, testing, exercise, pain management and nutrition.

Mopani’s next workshop will be on 30 November from 11am till 12pm. It is sponsored by Roche Diagnostics and light snacks will be served. Contact Vincent Morse on (013) 755 5548 to book or for more information.
