Mopani Pharmacy in conjunction with Roche Pty Ltd hosted a diabetic workshop on 30th November at Orange Restaurant, Nelspruit.  The last session for 2012.

Some 60 people – all local and living with diabetes – attended the event which was presented by Sister Kimberely Graham (Diabetic Nurse Educator), from Johannesburg. Sister Graham used a 360 degree paper tool to test your sugar levels, with a purpose”. This tool explored a diabetic’s exercise, meals, drinks etc. over a 3-day period, in conjunction with testing sugar levels during that period.

Sister Graham spoke about the importance of looking at the carbohydrate levels in food and comparing it to a slice of bread that carries 15g of carbohydrates.

Her presentation was well received with many attendees asking more questions afterwards.

Then they were treated to delicious snacks.

Mopani’s monthly diabetic workshops have become a set event among the local diabetic community and the pharmacy invites all diabetics to join these workshops which are hosted free of charge to the attendees. Each month a different topic is explored in-depth covering all aspects of living with diabetes like foot care, eye care, testing, exercise, pain management and nutrition.

Mopani’s next workshop will be at the end of January.  Contact Vincent Morse on (013) 755 5548 to book or for more information.
