Mopani kicked off their first diabetic workshop of the year on Friday 1 March with an informative talk covering the basics of diabetes, compliance to medication and the accompanying lifestyle changes needed to manage the disease. Thirty people attended the workshop which was presented by Mopani pharmacists, Gerda Erasmus and Verity Izeboud. “It’s wonderful to share with people who are so interested in learning more about their diabetes,” says Izeboud. “And discussing compliance and adherence to medication, we realised again that making lifestyle changes is the most difficult aspect of the treatment and that it is hard for everybody!” The talk was well received after which the attendees were treated to some diabetic friendly snacks. Mopani’s monthly diabetic workshops are a valuable resource for people faced with diabetes to gain useful and relevant information on managing the disease. The workshops also offer an opportunity to meet and mingle with fellow diabetics. Each month a different topic is discussed covering all aspects of living with diabetes. Attendance is free of charge. The next workshop will be held on Friday 5th April. For more information contact Vincent Morse on 013 755 5548.
