Kriek takes cycling events by storm after time off

Despite taking a break from cycling after a superb start to the 2014 season, Hennie Kriek, has started his comeback with a bang, recording some remarkable results in big national events.
He finished 5th overall in the 30-39 years category at the Rainbow Master World champs at the end of June, before taking a short break from cycling and recharging for the second half of the year.
Even after the time off, Kriek increased his tally of successes to 12 podium spots out of 17 races in 2014, including three first place finishes in his category, making him arguably the best rider in the Lowveld.
Recently, the super-cyclist finished second overall at the Mankele Provincial’s, before again booking second place on the podium during the 50 km Das Auto, and coming first in his category.
“After my break, I am still building up for all the upcoming events, including the Nissan Trailseeker and the Isuzu 3 Towers. I’m feeling fit, healthy and optimistic about the upcoming season,” said Kriek.
Kriek has long been representing Mopani Pharmacy and his other sponsors with aplomb, becoming one of the province’s best riders and fiercely competing against some of the country’s best in races such as the ABSA Cape Epic, where he had to heroically compete on his own after difficulties experienced by his teammate.
His decorated past and dogged determination indicate that his future will be just as successful, and Mopani Pharmacy is proud to continue support his extraordinary efforts and his mentality of a healthy lifestyle lived to its fullest.
